Moving Locally

Tori's 5 questions to consider when moving locally

Just because a move is local doesn’t mean it’s automatically easier. But don’t worry! A skilled agent can take the stress out of a simultaneous home sale and new home purchase. A key factor is timing both sides of the deal. This is where my 20+ years of experience really kick in for you and your family. I love Winston-Salem, and I’m proud to call this gem of a city my home. I’m eager to help you find a house you’ll love so you’ll stick around here with me.

These 5 questions make an easy checklist to review while considering your local move! For a more detailed option, here’s a Moving Checklist you may find helpful.

Happy family after buying their dream home

1. WHO?

“Who is moving or staying with you?”

How many children or grandchildren are in your home regularly?
Are you expecting a 20-something to return home?
Is an aging parent moving in with you?
Are you blending families?

Multi-generational homes are becoming the norm. But each one has its own set of parameters. Let’s talk about your wants and needs so we can find the right home for all of you.

2. WHY?

“Why are you moving?”

Are you looking to change school districts? Downsizing? Upsizing? Right-sizing? Want a home office or gym? Need a bigger yard for growing kids or outside entertaining? Are you considering the charm of an old home, or are you being lured by lower-maintenance new construction? Are you commuting to another location in the North Carolina Triad? Starting a new job?

The “why” behind your move will help us determine what you need in a new home.

3. WHERE?

“Where do you want to live?”

Figuring out the “who” and the “why” will help you determine the “where.” Communication is the most important factor in finding your new home. I know the right questions to ask to help narrow your home-buying search to the best locations in Winston-Salem that meet your criteria.

4. WHEN?

“When should you move?”

Timing can be tricky. Is there a set date when your child starts school or your parent needs to move in? Do you need to sell and buy at the same time, or do you want to renovate or build a new home before you can sell your current home?

When it comes to local moves, understanding the nuances of contracts and being creative with terms can help take the stress out of moving.

5. HOW?

“How will I move?”

Are you planning to move your household goods by yourself, or would you prefer to hire a professional mover?

Will you need a storage unit?

I’m happy to make recommendations! Just let me know how I can help!
