In the last couple of years, I have helped people relocate to Winston-Salem from the left coast, right coast, and as far away as Peru! Some of these families were “veteran movers” for job transfers, some wanted to be near friends, and others bought a second home to cheer on the DEACS!
As rewarding as a new home and new surroundings may be, let’s face it, moving isn’t fun and it isn’t cheap. So dump your belongings and drive! Just kidding, maybe purge, pack, and plummet (persevere) to Winston-Salem! The easier the better, right?
So what do you need to bring, what can you live without, and what can you buy here?
Must-haves:
- Golf clubs
- Bathing suit
- Raincoat/umbrella/rain gear
- Everything black and gold
Can do without:
- Parka
Can buy here:
- Great wine
- Fabulous donuts
- Local craft beer
- Anything artisan/handmade, from soaps to earrings to cheese straws
- Anything in a shade of blue
Seriously, this is an amazing place. While we don’t have a ton of retail stores, you just have to know where to look! You can pick up plenty of North Carolina goodies at Dewey’s or Mast General, Charlotte is close, and Amazon delivers. And if you don’t have any black and gold, call me. I know where to find some for you!
